ABSTRACT
November 10th, 1834. The Beagle sailed from Valparaiso to the south ward, for the purpose o f surveying the southern part o f Chile, the island of Chiloe, and the broken land called the Chonos Archipelago, as far south as the Peninsula o f Tres Montes. On the 21st we anchored in the bay o f S. Carlos, the capital o f Chiloe.
