ABSTRACT
I inherited an enviable roster of solo artists for my first season in Corpus Christi. It included the pianists Julius Katchen, Arthur Brailovsky, and the duo-piano team Gold and Fizdale, and three legendary instrumentalists, the already mentioned clarinetist Benny Goodman, classical guitarist Andres Segovia, and violinist Mischa Elman. These were the informed choices of my predecessor, Jacques Singer.
