The five components of net worth can now be combined to produce an estimate of total wealth in rural China and its distribution among the rural population. We have covered the four main categories of wealth possessed by rural households: land, fixed productive assets, net worth in housing, and gross financial assets. In calculating net worth in housing, we have taken into account housing debt. All that remains is to subtract nonhousing debt from the total value of our four assets to obtain an estimate of rural net worth.
