ABSTRACT
Anyone who has turned on the evening news cannot help but be struck by the degree to which foreign affairs and foreign policy, economic conditions and economic policy, dominate national reporting. In a way, it is easy to understand why foreign affairs should receive such extensive coverage. Whether we go to war or not is obviously a matter of concern to every citizen, and the possibility of nuclear war means that what happens in remote flashpoints may affect all of us.
