ABSTRACT

There lived this old man with this old woman and they had a daughter and a little son. “Daughter, daughter!” said the mother, “We are going to work. We’ll bring you a bun, make you a dress, and buy you a kerchief. Be clever and watch your brother; don’t go out of the yard.” The old folks went away and the daughter forgot what they had told her to do. She put her little brother on the grass beneath the window and ran out of the yard to play and amuse herself. Then the swan-geese flew up and seized the little boy, and carried him away on their wings.
