ABSTRACT

Alenushka, Masha, and Aniuta set off into the woods for berries. They were coming back late and knocked at the door of a miller. The miller was covered in acorns. He had collected them and was making himself a cabbage soup. He stopped them: “Sit down, little girls, and eat with me.” So they sat down. Aniuta and Masha ate, but Alenushka put whatever he ladled out to her under the table. So they left the table. He said, “Who was that who threw everything under the table?” They said it was Alenushka.
