There appeared in his tsardom a bear with iron fur who began eating all his subjects…. The bear ate people, and the tsar sat and thought about how he was to save his children. He ordered a high tower built and in it he put Ivan Tsarevich and Elena the Beautiful, and he laid in provisions for them for five years.
