ABSTRACT

Early one morning a father and mother arose and said, “We must lead away that thumb-sized boy into the forest and leave him.” But he overheard what they said and gathered together some little white stones. They got ready and rode off. As they rode along, the thumb-sized boy tossed the stones down one after the other. When they got to the forest, they said, “Sit here a little while. We’ll go down into the ravine for some wood.” They tied a board to a tree. The wind was blowing. The wind blew it against the tree, making a banging sound, and he thought they were chopping brush. Evening came, but they still hadn’t come back. He set off following his little stones. Soon he came home.
