ABSTRACT

There lived and dwelt a peasant smith who had three daughters. Once he intended to go to the city to sell his wares and he asked his daughters what to bring them, what kind of presents. The oldest said, “Papa, buy me some beautiful red calico for a sarafan, a pinafore.” The second asked for some beads. But the third, the very youngest, sat and was silent, and then she said, “Papa, if you think of me, bring me a nut branch.”
