ABSTRACT

According to the regional structure adopted by the Russian Federation, the Far East includes the following areas: the Republic of Sakha (Iakutiia), the Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Primorskii Krai, Khabarovsk Krai, Amur Oblast, Kamchatka Oblast (with Koriak Autonomous Okrug), Magadan Oblast (with the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug), and Sakhalin Oblast (see Table 1.1). According to the Federation Treaty all these territories are subordinate to the federation.
