ABSTRACT

Ferrous metallurgy in the Far East is represented by the plant called Amurstal’, which is located in Komsomol’ sk-na-Amure, in Khabarovsk Krai, and which produces 97 percent of the steel and 100 percent of the rolled metal in the region. In addition, the Far East has a few small plants to collect and process ferrous metal scraps, and it has small shops in machine-building plants for smelting and casting metal. Amurstal’ processes local metal scrap and cast iron brought from other areas (primarily from the Kuznetsk metallurgical combine in Kemerovo Oblast).
