ABSTRACT

The United Nations charter, in article 7, identifies “the principal organs of the United Nations” as: the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council, Trusteeship Council, International Court of Justice, and Secretariat, six organs in all. It then proceeds to discuss the functions of the organs. The following chapters in part I deal with the organization and functions of the United Nations in terms of the work of those entities, beginning with the General Assembly.
