ABSTRACT
My husband was transferred back to Delhi in July 1947 as Chair of the Delhi Central Electric Power Authority—the first nationalized concern. He moved to Delhi alone, as our house at 32 Alipur Road was not yet ready for occupation. The children and I followed in November of the same year, so I missed the midnight ceremony * that declared India free and independent.
