ABSTRACT
We had hardly settled down in our house at 6 Dupleix Lane when my husband was ordered to proceed to Burma, then part of the British Empire. I accompanied him and had my first taste of a sea voyage. Unfortunately, I was not a good traveler in those days, so my three days on board the steamer were very trying. I was indeed happy to see the sampans on the Irrawaddy River as we neared the coast of Rangoon. We spent three days in Rangoon, and when my husband was not working, we visited all the sights, including the famous Shwe-de-gong Pagoda and of course all the shops. We then returned to Delhi.
