ABSTRACT
Nationwide victory did not mark the fulfillment of the Chinese revolution. It was but one step in a more protracted process of social transformation which would require further stages and struggles before a Communist society could be realized. That one step, however, meant the tasks, opportunities and problems facing the Party were profoundly different from those of the revolutionary period when rectification was first developed.
