ABSTRACT

Since 1955, there has been no increase in the export of pork, the supply of pork in big and medium-sized cities has declined, and small cities and rural towns are often out of it. In a word, pork supply is tense in both cities and rural areas. The main reason for the short supply of pork is insufficient production. Production of pork since national liberation can be divided into two stages. In the period before 1954, national output of pork increased consistently and basically kept pace with the increasing purchasing power of urban and rural residents. Peasants should be permitted to keep some of the pigs for their own, to butcher, to eat, to share with others or to sell. When a pig is purchased, it should be ensured that the peasant who has raised the pig is left with several jin of pork and cooking oil.
