ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the Goals and Roles Evaluation Model that combines important features such as organizational planning and assessment, explicit role expectations, performance feedback, and an improvement focus at both the organizational and individual level. It offers a description of the model along with background on the theoretical and practical support for it from the educational literature. The Goals and Roles Evaluation Model reflects systems thinking and recognizes that the improvement efforts of individuals must be embedded in larger organizational change efforts, aligned with the goals of the organization, and supported actively by the organization. In order to provide an evaluation system that facilitates accomplishment of the school's goals and professional growth of the employee, the Goals and Roles Evaluation Model emphasizes the relationship between expected job performance and actual job performance. The Goals and Roles Evaluation Model emphasizes the dynamic and integrative nature of evaluation in an educational environment committed to systematic growth and development.
