ABSTRACT
The Bhagavad Gita opens on a field of battle where a most decisive engagement is about to begin. Two great armies have assembled to decide once and for all who will rule the North Indian kingdom of Bharata. Will it be the Pandavas or their kinsmen, the Kauravas? After much bloodshed on both sides, the noble-hearted Pandavas will eventually prevail over the evil-hearted Kauravas, but that is far in the future, and as the first battle is about to begin, the excitement is building.
