ABSTRACT

With those words the divine Krishna, a personal form of the god Vishnu, responds to Arjuna’s question as to which is the superior path of yoga. Indeed, the Bhagavad Gita emphatically declares the primary importance of Bhakti Yoga, the way of devotion to a personal god, one who is a loving savior of humankind. In doing this the Gita was reflecting a current within Indian society that was growing very strong. It is known as the Devotional Movement.
