ABSTRACT
As to the nigrae pecudes, we are reminded of Anchises asking his son to seek him out in Elysium (5. 722–40) being led by the Sibyl after having sacrificed many black pecudes: huc casta Sibylla / nigrarum multo pecudum te sanguine ducet (736).
