ABSTRACT

Twins seem born to be together. Kindred souls. Two peas in a pod. Twins are mirror images of each other. Reflections. If they have weaknesses or strengths, they each have them. And twins are the same age. They speak the same language and have the same worldview. They are from the same culture. Romeo and Juliet were twins. Young, emotional, romantic, breathless, impulsive, wildly crazy about each other, willing to take the greatest risks for their love. In spite of insurmountable, life-threatening stakes. One could give Romeo all of Juliet's dialogue and all of his words to her and the whole play would still make perfect sense. This is what the Twin Dynamic is like. In Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff and Cathy were twins. Passionate, obsessed, other-worldly, nearly possessed. Possibly both mad. Beautiful and doomed. Twins. In His Girl Friday, Rosalind Russell and Cary Grant are obviously right for each other.
