My wife was in a dreamy mood. What were her thoughts? With the coffee, an absolutely enormous bowl full of sugared
almonds was placed on our table. There must have been at least a hundred almonds, lying there to be selected, each identical to its sugary companions. To my astonishment - lasting to this day, years later - my young wife picked up the huge bowl and poured practically all the sugared almonds into her handbag.
