ABSTRACT

Hands-on science centres are designed to introduce the world of science and technology to children and to adults, literally at first hand, with simple interactive demonstrations and experiments. The interaction is not just making passive push-button movements. It is active experimenting, with choice and initiative, sometimes with surprising results. If such hands-on experience of phenomena and methods of science turns on curiosity, it succeeds. If it turns curiosity into understanding, it achieves more than can be said of most schools.
