ABSTRACT

Conducting research sometimes requires resources such as lab space or funding. These are resources that may be in short supply at a teaching institution. Therefore, if you are to obtain them at all you will at least have to build a case for why you need them. Furthermore, you will have to convince your administration that those resources will be well spent. In this chapter, we present the idea that “nothing succeeds like success.” We will suggest ways to have early successes that can be used as evidence that you deserve greater resources to expand on them.
