ABSTRACT
Before we can come to the heart of our problem we need to understand the fluid, suggestible, unaccountable nature of mass-mentality. At first glance it would seem to be relatively simple to study the queer phenomena of the mass-mind. Mr. Tom Harrisson and his assistants, in their experiments in mass-observation, have already made interesting discoveries about the unlimited nature of collective foolishness. But the psychological roots of our major stupidities are still quite obscure.
