ABSTRACT

227Humans are social animals who spend much of their time interacting with other people. How far are we willing to go to fit in with the expectations of others? For example, would you go along with the views of the members of a group even though you were confident they were wrong? Would you obey the orders of an authority figure if you thought the orders were mistaken? In what circumstances are you most likely to obey authority figures? Why do people in crowds often behave differently from how they behave on their own?
