ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses series of contemporary transportable building examples to analyse the relationships between public transportable buildings and their sites. It also discusses the key characteristics of transportable buildings that are completely dismantled after use and are not assembled again as the same building. A key feature of Westborough Primary School is that it is a permanent rather than a temporary transportable building. The Prada Transformer was designed by Rem Koolhaas to host Prada fashion events in Seoul, South Korea, and was located near the 16th-century Gyepnghui Palace. The chapter consider the key characterises of transportable buildings which are designed to be completely or partly dismantled after use and assembled again as the same building at a different site. The Nomadic Museum was designed by Shigeru Ban Architects with consultation on structural engineering from BuroHappold. The Paper Church, in terms of material, scale and construction methods, remained the same design, with only its environment, location and users changing.
