ABSTRACT

The sign of a psychologist, thereat, can be considered inherently involved in this ongoing semiotic construction of the self, a part of the process of becoming a psychologist. In general, the identity formation in the non-academic settings provided the feeling of being different from the others, differently from the academic environment that seemed to evoke feeling of belonging to the professional group of psychologists through the assumed similarities among the members of professional community. Exploration of personal representations of psychologists and how the students described themselves revealed some overlapping, indicating that a sign of a psychologist became to organize their meaning making. In general, the construction of prosocial orientation and focus on the interpersonal competencies were present in the students’ subjective reflections on their changes since their enrollment in the university.
