ABSTRACT

In Lifestyle Tips, numerous topics are explored that are not found in music production books, which are crucial to longevity as a creative professional, and specifically in the music industry. The importance of finding the right balance for each individual is promoted. This chapter also stresses the necessity for avoiding hearing loss and repetitive strain injuries. Diet, exercise, rest, and positive attitude are given as four pillars of health every music producer must individually examine. The notion of “set and setting” is applied to curating ones’ life as a creative professional in the music world, including variables related to friends and associates, and dealing with dangerous locations common in underground music scenes. Chapter 9 concludes with pertinent issues surrounding the ubiquity of drugs in many facets of the art and music worlds.
