ABSTRACT
In Master Your Craft, the focus is developing the technical skills and knowledge required for success in modern music production. Learning itself is the first topic. The term “holon” is introduced to clarify the various domains of knowledge and skill in production. Music, sound design, tools/DAW, and audio engineering are given as the Big Four production holons, and each of their major components is discussed. The music production process is broken down into four general phases, and an example workflow is given. The chapter wraps up with suggested learning strategies for mastering your craft using “order out of chaos” as a metaphor.
