ABSTRACT

Chapter 11 explains the economic theory of Coopetition. The relational dialectic of whether the economy is organized by institutions external to economic exchange (external regulation) or internally organized by economic actors themselves (internal regulation) is synthesized through the concept of commoning. The process dialectic of strong versus weak regulation is resolved through cooperation and its use of the method of integration. Through common ownership and stewardship of natural resources, Coopetition produces cooperative production and exchange relationships that function in competition with shared challenges in the pursuit of flourishing for all.
