ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides information on a journey through theoretical aspects that frame and support learner-centred music education. It also provides practical explorations for deeper understanding and working with this approach. The book introduces the landscape with perspectives that underpin learner-centred thinking in music education. It examines the dimensions and understanding of learning and looks at collaborative learning and understanding the group as a learning environment. The book explores the essential elements of professional practice and pedagogical sensitivity and considers planning musical activities through a learner-centred approach. It deepens understanding of working with a learner-centred approach.
