ABSTRACT

In this theme, the group as a learning environment is approached through the metaphor of an instrument, a multi-faceted creative system. This instrument has to be tuned and cared for. Making music in a group can build an environment where learning takes place. This applies to music groups for children, children and their parents, and groups of student music pedagogues. At the beginning of the adventure – the shared journey of collaborative learning – it is important to build a safe and creative atmosphere where everyone feels accepted as they are. It creates a sense of freedom and feelings of acceptance – may be more so than would be possible by sharing names and study backgrounds. With music, movement and the search for the same pulse, it is possible to facilitate the formation of a safe atmosphere. If handled with care, speaking metaphorically, it tunes the orchestra to play the same score with the same vision of the piece.
