ABSTRACT

Non-traumatic events can be potentially seismic enough to challenge people’s assumptive world, which in turn could lead to personal growth. In this chapter, we first discuss how positive events and self-initiated challenges can lead to PTG, reviewing studies on PTG among those involved in space flight and PTG after childbirth or from parenting a child. Finally, we conclude this chapter by discussing if PTG will be observed as a result of daily hassles in contrast to more traumatic experiences.
