ABSTRACT

In this last chapter, we offer philosophical viewpoints on the phenomenon of posttraumatic growth (PTG). We discuss how PTG poses ultimate questions of how and why we live and consider how work on PTG can move us to a broader conception, beyond recovery, of trauma response. We conclude this chapter by emphasizing the importance of including PTG in clinical training. In a time where clinicians have become preoccupied with treatment manuals, we hope that practices arising out of PTG research will be recognized as another important tool.
