Considering the Visitor book
We could be walking into a church-the entry fl anked by oversized Doric columns and the drama that comes with vaulted ceilings. We may even see stained glass windows, although no altar. We venture in, past the stoic guards that mimic statues. And immediately, we see objects. They are important, precious, encased behind glass with a lengthy narrative attached. Not knowing anything about these objects or the painting on the wall above, we already feel overwhelmed and out of place. Our voices echo back and we are inclined to whisper in this hallowed cultural shrine.
