I THEconnexionsbetweenphilosophyandeducationthatIhave discussedsofarhavegiventhephilosophertheroleofacritic ratherthanthatofadiscoverer.Thiswillseemunsatisfactory tothosewhobelievethatphilosophycangivesomepositive guidancetoeducationaltheoristsandcanthereforehavemore thanthemodestregulativetaskthatIhavetriedtodescribe. IhaveexplainedinChapters2and3someofthereasonsfor supposingthatthetaskofphilosophyinrelationtoeducationis asIhavestatedit.Neverthelessthisquestionisafundamental oneandneedsmorethanthemerelyincidentaltreatmentithas receiveduptonow.Ishallthereforediscussinthisfinalchaptersomeofthephilosophicalissuesbasictoanyeducational theory.
