My derivation of the restrictive term of quantified sentences by presupposition accommodation from the nuclear scope was predicated on the observation that the matrix predicates of the sentences in (25) are factive while those of the sentences in (42) and (44) are nonfactive: given the well-known claim that factive predicates presuppose their complement while nonfactive predicates do not, the hypothesis of presupposition accommodation accounts for the difference in interpretation between the two groups of sentences.
