Subtitling for Children book
Children's subtitles differ from those for adults because of the distinct linguistic abilities of the two groups. In general, children's subtitles have to be displayed for longer, entailing more editing of the dialogue in order to keep them within the original structure of a programme. This process is by no means straightforward. As illustrated previously (c.f. chapter four), any degree of editing can alter the original meaning of an utterance and affect comprehension.
