ABSTRACT

Shelley, Rosalind and Helen (1819); Gentleman’s Magazine, LXXXIX-i, Supplement (June 1819), 625–626. The reference in the second paragraph to “the unfortunates of the world” favoring Lake Como alludes to the residence there of Princess Caroline (rejected wife of the Prince Regent), who had recently rented a villa on Como. For other reviews taken from the daily New Times, see the reviews of Byron during 1817-19. This review is significant in seeing the close connection between Byron and Shelley, even to reading Lionel as a portrait of Byron.
