The praise of Keats in this review is ironic throughout; the reviewer assumes that his audience, primed by the attacks in Blackwood’s, will find the quotations from Keats’s poems—especially the words and phrases in italics — to be ludicrous. Quite sincere, however, is Gold’s attack on Talfourd’s review of Endymion in Baldwin’s London Magazine.
