ABSTRACT

Godwin, Martdeville (1817); review-letter by Percy B. Shelley, Examiner, Dec. 28, 1817, pp. 826-827. Shelley’s use of the signature “E.K.” (which stood for “Elphin Knight,” a nickname given him by Mary Shelley) caused some confusion. Keats, for one, thought that the critique had been written by Elizabeth Kent, Hunt’s sister-in-law.
