ABSTRACT

Shelley, Revolt of Islam (1818); review by Leigh Hunt, Examiner, Feb. 1, 1818, pp. 75-76; Feb. 22, 1818, pp. 121-122; March 1, 1818, pp. 139-141. Hunt shows in this review both his admiration for Shelley and the difficulty he had in trying to understand him. In relating Shelley to Lucretius and Dante (p. 140), Hunt demonstrates his grasp of the essential nature of Shelley’s genius and its affinities.
