ABSTRACT
Hunt, Foliage (1818); review by ?John Gibson Lockhart, Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine, VI (Oct. 1819), 70–76. In this selection of reviews, I have omitted most general articles, among them the fifth article “On the Cockney School of Poetry” (filled with more general invective on Hunt) and some articles on “The Lake School of Poetry.” The review of Foliage — published by Blackwood’s more than a year after the volume appeared — was apparently nothing more than a pretext to continue the bombardment of Hunt. Note the reference to Hunt’s pronunciation (p. 74). Hunt, of course, was not dead and would outlive his younger tormenter.
