Hunt, Essays on … the London Theatres (1807); Antijacobin Review, XXXIII (June 1809), 191. The timing of this notice is strange, coming after Hunt had begun to make himself obnoxious to the government by his Examiner articles. Was the Antijacobin trying to encourage him to give up politics and return to theatrical criticism? The standard Hunt bibliographies do not indicate that Murray joined John Hunt as publisher of this volume, but this was just a year before Leigh Hunt was asked “to contribute an article on Literature or Poetry for the Quarterly” (Samuel Smiles, Memoir … of John Murray, 1891, I, 154).
