ABSTRACT

[Byron] Don Juan, XII-XIV (1823); New European Magazine, III (Dec. 1823), 530-534. After the vicious (and rather stupid) attack on the first number of the Liberal, the New European Magazine had been making amends, little by little, to Byron’s genius. Even the attack on Cantos VI-VIII of Don Juan had recognized the overwhelming significance, for good or ill, of all Byron wrote. Now the first English cantos receive a more favorable report.
