ABSTRACT

Byron, Prisoner of Chillon (1816) and three other works; Portfolio, Dec. 7, 1816, pp. 123-128. The reviewer spoofs the Prisoner of Chillon volume by pretending that it is a hoax like Lord Byron’s Pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The criticism of the simplicity of the poem’s language and imagery under scores the influence of Words worth on Byron’s poetry of this period.
