ABSTRACT

Byron, Sardampalus, etc. (1821); Edinburgh [Scots] Magazine, 2nd Series, X (Jan. 1822), 102-114. The unknown reviewer quotes from memory in an allusive style reminiscent of Hazlitt’s, but with a greater use of Latin texts. Especially evident are comments on the life and times of the Roman emperors Nero and Otho from the Annals of Tacitus. Note his praise of Shelley’s Queen Mab (pp. 110-112).
