ABSTRACT

Byron, Hours of Idleness (1807); review by George Edward Griffiths, Monthly Review, 2nd Series, LIV (Nov. 1807), 256–263. Griffiths’ review is one of the most sensible, as well as laudatory, of those accorded this volume because it neither over-praises nor condescends to Byron’s youthful effusions, but encourages him to devote more time and energy to the task of becoming a poet.
