ABSTRACT

The hardest thing to fix about the weekly LITERARY MUSEUM is its real title. That changed from LONDON MUSEUM through MUSEUM to LITERARY MUSEUM during its short life, 1822–1824, with its masthead not always agreeing with collective title pages. The journal was one of the imitators of the Literary Gazette; its publishers were John Miller and John Warren. Though we know nothing about the editors, the reviews suggest that they were younger men, basically liberal in outlook, but with traditional religious and moral values.
